"I breastfed my daughter for two years. It was a wonderful time full of warmth, closeness and special moments. But at some point, the time came when I felt that I was ready to take a new step - I wanted to have my body to myself again. But my little girl didn't even think about saying goodbye to our breastfeeding time.
Weaning became a real challenge for both of us. I lacked the right words and images to make this transition easier for my daughter. I looked for books that could help us, but only found stories about pacifiers, potties or the first day at nursery - nothing that really depicted our particular situation.
That's how the idea for this book came about. It illustrates scenes from our everyday life, inspired by my own experience and the experiences of many other families who have also gone through this journey. With tender illustrations and empathetic texts, I want to show families a gentle and respectful approach that actively involves the child in the process. My aim has been to make the child feel safe and secure and to make this transition an exciting journey into a new chapter.
I hope that this book can be a small support for all families who are in the middle of the weaning process and want to help their child to say goodbye in a loving way - and to be able to let go a little more easily while doing so."
